Israeli Jewish Teenager Arrested for Making Bomb Threats Against Jewish Centers in US

Israeli police arrested a 19-year-old Jewish man Thursday for making dozens of bomb threats against Jewish community centers in the United States.

According to police, the suspect made the threats from Israel and used “advanced camouflage technologies” to mask his voice and location. Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said his motives were unclear.

The man also made calls to places in New Zealand and Australia.

Threats against Jewish community centers have spiked in recent months, with the Anti-Defamation League counting over 120 threats against JCCs and schools since Jan. 9.

President Donald Trump drew criticism in late February for suggesting that some of the recent threats were made “to make people—or to make others—look bad.”

This arrest comes weeks after liberal blogger Juan Thompson was charged with making at least eight separate bomb threats against Jewish organization.
