It’s the first media casualty of the Trump Presidential regime.
In news that has flown under the radar because of the Trump inauguration missile, the President’s biggest media enemy MSNBC’s Katy Tur has been taken off the Trump trail.
Tur has frequently sparred with the President in her capacity as lead reporter on the Trump campaign for MSNBC and NBC News. She has lately been regarded as one of the liberal news network’s bright young things.
But now she has been moved to anchor the 2 p.m. hour on MSNBC, an early afternoon time slot most popular with liberal retirees and bored hotel barmen.
MSNBC didn’t give a reason for the change, but after the tortuous relationship that developed between the pair, the network might have wished to reset its relations with the new President.
Trump frequently called Tur “Little Katy,” told her to “be quiet” and urged her to “get out” her sentences in interviews when she paused. He also accused her of being a liar and a “third-rate reporter.”
For her part Tur has dined out on her newfound infamy, appearing on the Charlie Rose show, Late Night with Seth Myers and written about her time with Trump for Marie Claire.
Tur did get a rough ride from the President, who seemed to get a kick out of mocking and humiliating her. But then she hardly disguised her contempt for Trump’s supporters, predicting armageddon on his campaign trail (“it has felt that we are on the precipice of something very bad happening”) and even called out his supporters for having too much to drink on election night.
Tur still seems hostile to Trump, tweeting that the parade route for the inauguration was “empty.” But if her new show tanks, she won’t blame the President or his supporters…will she?
