You would think the bankruptcy of Gawker might have taught its sister blogs something. But Gawker is still the worst place on the Internet.
Yesterday, its feminist blog Jezebel took a dig at Trump’s running mate Mike Pence by mocking the death of his dog in blog post titled: “An October Surprise for Mike Pence’s Dog: Death“.
What makes it particularly awful is the use of phrase “October Surprise.” The term is often used to describe a news event that is deliberately created or timed to influence the outcome of an election.
The post also pretends to be empathetic while making the death of the dog somewhat an issue:
Tragedy has befallen the Trump-Pence campaign, which was already struggling, and it comes in the form of that tiny, pup-sized grim reaper who comes for all doggies eventually.
The Internet is still baffled by the post, with many people simply wondering what is wrong with them:

Heat Street sends condolences to the Pence family and wishes Jezebel would stop being the worst people on the planet.
Heavy hearts today. Our beagle of 13 years passed away quietly last night. Rest In Peace, Maverick. We will miss you. pic.twitter.com/JPnFvsHB3Y
