Do you know that Donald Trump wants to take away your birth control? Neither do I, but some feminists are saying it’s time to stockpile birth-control pills or get a long-term birth control procedure to survive at least two terms of a Trump administration.
Trump hasn’t publicly stated any opposition to birth control—he even told TV “Doctor” Dr. Oz back in September that women shouldn’t need prescription for birth control pills. He has also received criticism from pro-life conservatives for saying that Planned Parenthood does “good things” and “wonderful work”—when it’s not involved with abortion. But no need to let that get in the way of a good fear-mongering campaign.
Trump’s Vice President Mike Pence, of course, is much less sympathetic to women’s reproductive rights. He has crusaded against Planned Parenthood and fought for restricting access to abortions. His only documented comment on contraception, though, was the time he claimed condoms are too “liberal” and “modern.” Even Pence, who has ardently conservative positions on many social issues, hasn’t talked about restricting or banning contraception or getting insurance to stop cover it.
Yet just a week before election day, The Daily Beast’s Erin Gloria Ryan suggested women should get an Intrauterine Device (IUD) “before it’s too late“—because Trump/Pence combo will limit women’s right to choose, so the only way to remain safe is by getting long-term contraception measures. The IUD is a form of long-term birth control that can prevent pregnancy for up to 12 years.
Get your IUD. If you have light periods, opt for a Paragard, which can last 10-12 years. Get your birth control that will outlast Trump.

Ryan wrote: “So on Election Day, ladies who wish to remain not-pregnant for a few years, do your patriotic duty and cast your ballot. And once you’ve done that, hedge your bets.”
After election night, an opinion piece in the NY Post called on all women to “Get an IUD and get one now.” The reason is the same: Trump doesn’t like birth control and he will repeal Obamacare, so now is the time to get it for free before birth control pills disappear from the U.S.
Women, call your docs. Today. Take charge of your health before Jan. 20. Get an IUD, get mammograms, get ultrasounds, get Paps. Do it now.

Today, feminist blog Jezebel also came out and did their part to whip up women, claiming “Maybe You Should Get an IUD Today,” adding: “After the emotional trauma of this election cycle, and its terrifying conclusion, it seems like insult to injury to go to the gyno and get a foreign object inserted in your cervix, but this is where we’re at.”
The blog also suggested: “You also have until January to order a breast pump” and use other services like breast cancer screening, because the new president will somehow launch an assault on all that.
