Feminists Launch Campaign to Have Monopoly Add ‘IUD’ Game Piece

Makers of the board game Monopoly are asking players to weigh in on what silver tokens should appear in the upcoming ‘Token Madness’ version of its classic board game. Feminists want Parker Brothers to include an Intrauterine Device (or IUD), a long-acting, reversible contraceptive they say will become an endangered species in Donald Trump’s administration.

Last year, Monopoly introduced a cat token to join the top hat, dog, wheelbarrow and sports car players use to mark their positions on the board. The promotion was so successful that, this year,  they’re releasing a special edition with all crowd-sourced tokens.

But while Monopoly is trying to play it safe and stay out of politics, feminists say that having the IUD as an option would help remind players, male and female, that birth control is an “important factor” in making the serious life decisions needed to clear the way to becoming an imaginary real-estate mogul.

It would have the added benefit, they say, of reminding America’s board game players that Donald Trump is a looming threat to women’s rights, and giving families the opportunity to teach their children about women’s health care as they pass Go.

Complicated and politically tinged discussions with children are exactly what America’s families are clamoring for during their quiet nights in, right? And everyone wants to have extensive, heated debates about their reproductive strategies with their friends and family on major holidays.

Of course, it doesn’t have to be an IUD. Feminists claim they would be satisfied with a pack of birth control pills, a NuvaRing, a condom or even a vasectomy, provided it could be cast in pewter.
