Lindy West fostered her D-list fame by espousing the gospel of body positivity. Beauty comes at any size, and her health is none of your business. Obesity advocates need to simmer down and stop telling kids to be healthy… or whatever.
But while West has no problem crucifying public figures, and even her own boss, for the crime of body shaming, she is a total hypocrite. Yesterday on Twitter ,West body shamed prominent conservative feminist Christina Hoff Sommers.

She compared Sommers to an elf being drained of her life essence. Excuse me West, but that’s ageism and you’re being super problematic right now.

West tried to defend herself by saying that fantasy references do not classify as body shaming.
update: just to be clear it is not "body shaming" to say that someone looks like a woodland elf in thrall to a magical crystal but good try

So if esoteric fantasy references don’t count, I’m sure West wouldn’t mind if I compare her to the race of sandworms native to Dune, desert planet of Arrakis, Shai-Halud in the tongue of the freemen, and “Grandfather of the Desert.” An apt comparison in my opinion, considering Lindy West’s knack for making our planet barely habitable.
