God bless Europol, the hapless, bureaucratic law enforcement agency which is supposed to unite the police forces of a divided Europe.

The agency has had a hard time recently: accusations of intelligence failures in the wake of the Brussels and Paris attacks, alongside the abject failure to deal with the continents migrant smuggling epidemic.

Not least among their worries are recent revelations from Heat Street showing the bloated perks offered to its staff, including the agency’s British chief, Robert Wainright.

When Heat Street asked Europol’s press office if they had any idea what the key was supposed to represent (are they opening Europe’s borders some more?) the simple answer was “no”.

Some head-scratching later, it was suggested they have an enormous key because they are *opening* a new location.

Readers can judge for themselves how this bodes for the likely success of their crusade against ruthless organized criminals.
