Liberal celebrities have a new freedom fighter—Star Wars actor Ewan McGregor.

As Heat Street previously reported, McGregor was at the TV studio but  refused to be interviewed by Piers Morgan on his UK morning show Good Morning Britain because the media and TV personality had previously been skeptical about the Women’s March in Washington DC.

McGregor was supposed to be promoting his new movie T2 Trainspotting but pulled the plug on the interview when he demanded that someone other than Morgan conduct it. That request was rejected.

In a tweet, McGregor wrote: ‘Was going on Good Morning Britain, didn’t realise @piersmorgan was host. Won’t go on with him after his comments about #WomensMarch’.

The UK is predictably in a frenzy about this but McGregor has been backed by Hollywood celebrities.

Such as Jessica Chastain:

And Patrick Stewart:

Ben Stiller re-tweeted McGregor. Comedian Evan Handler came out fighting against Morgan:

Morgan subsequently attacked McGregor on Twitter and his column for Mail Online calling him a “pedophile-loving hypocrite”, a reference to McGregor’s having previously praised the character of Roman Polanski who pled guilty in court to raping a 13-year-old.

In a video unearthed by the Guido Fawkes website, McGregor lavished praise on Polanski while promoting The Ghost in 2010. The Ghost was directed by Polanski and starred McGregor.

He said: “I like very much him as a man. He’s a 76-year-old man who is certainly not someone I think who is a danger to society in any way. I was upset for him that he was having to go through that.”
