Casey Affleck Under Fire at Oscars for Red Carpet Kiss

Regular readers of Heat Street will know that people would never let Casey Affleck, favorite for Best Actor for his performance in Manchester by the Sea, get away with kissing an interviewer on the Oscars red carpet.

Krista Smith, Executive Editor of Vanity Fair, is moonlighting as an ABC Academy Awards correspondent. She let Affleck kiss her on the cheek…because, well, that’s what they do on the Oscars red carpet.

But people who won’t forgive Affleck for settling suits alleging sexual harassment from two women who worked on his 2010 documentary film I’m Still Here (he was never charged) took exception to the scene.

weird watching Casey Affleck kiss that woman on the cheek for no reason just now #oscars2017

Smith told Affleck “we’re all rooting for you” because red carpet interviewers expressing preference for each nominee they question is a time-honored Oscars tradition.

But again people weren’t buying it…

Others were hinting Affleck was borderline inappropriate with Halle Berry:

Sometimes you gotta pay attention to the background. Casey Affleck really going in for that hug. #Oscars #OscarsRedCarpet pic.twitter.com/i0IIdIerEu

Last eloquent word to Roxane Gay, the writer who returned her advance to Simon & Schuster when Milo was going to have his book published by the CBS-owned publishing house:

Fuck Casey Affleck. Unkempt serial harasser
