Plenty of people are still having problems with the fact that come January 20 Donald Trump will be the 45th President of the United States.
At The Huffington Post, Richard Greene urged liberal activists to campaign for Colin Powell to be President.
“A few phone calls to a few Congresspersons and Senators before Congress votes at 1 pm Eastern on Friday, January 6 is all it might take,” he wrote.
“How is this possible? It’s actually quite straight-forward. 50 Republican Electors in The Electoral College, by their failure to adhere to mandatory requirements in their own states, and thereby The United States Constitution, have just handed you that opportunity.”
There are almost an infinite number of problems with this hypothesis—it is more suited to the stuff of fictional sci-fi rather than political analysis—and unsurprisingly the article was swiftly taken down by Huff Po editors.
It can still be read here if you want a good laugh.
Before it was removed, however, desperate celebrity Mark Ruffalo—a fantastic actor who plays The Hulk in various Marvel blockbusters but who is also a dogged cheerleader of useless far-left causes- got in on the act tweeting: “50 Repub electors illgmt. Colin Powell Can Be Elected President of The United States on January 6.”
No idea what team Ruffalo is on in Thor: Ragnorak but he’s most certainly on the losing side here…
