Sensitive comedienne Amy Schumer could well do without getting dragged into another race row.

She’s previously provoked charges of racism for seemingly implying on Twitter that men of color are more likely to ‘holler’ and catcall at women than white men and for recreating Beyonce’s Formation video which is centered around black female empowerment.

Entire articles in prominent outlets have been devoted to the subject.

Now  Schumer has again been charged with racism, this time over her new movie Snatched which stands accused of accentuating the stereotype that South American men are kidnappers.

The movie’s promotion includes commercials and trailers ahead of its Mothers Day release in May. Yet the plot, in which Schumer’s character Emily, together with her onscreen mother Linda played by Goldie Hawn, travel to an unnamed Latin American country after she gets dumped only to get kidnapped by criminals is rubbing Twitter the wrong way.

Social media mavens object to jokes in the trailer such as Hawn’s Linda mistaking a thick-accented ‘Welcome’ drink at her hotel for ‘whale cum’. More seriously, the movie encourages the perception that if you go to South America, you’re going to get yourself robbed and taken hostage:

‘White Feminism’ is also being thrown into the mix:

And let’s not forget Goldie Hawn who is starring in her first major movie role in 15 years, only to find herself being called a “shriveled prune.”

Meantime it gets worse for Schumer. Her new Netflix original The Leather Special is generating terrible feedback. As reported by The Federalistscathing user reviews about the show include, “This is as funny as an autopsy” and “Amy is 1 Special Away From Being Broke and Homeless.”
