Twitter has unveiled a new emoji targeting system that will serve advertisers just as well, if not better than targeted keywords.
As emoji become the de-facto written language for a generation for expressing a huge spectrum of emotion and sentiment, it makes perfect sense that their use should be tracked and analyzed.

“Now advertisers can target people who have recently Tweeted or engaged with Tweets featuring emojis,” explained Twitter in a blog post “This new feature uses emoji activity as a signal of a person’s mood or mindset — unlocking unique opportunities for marketers.”
