While dozens of media companies expressed initial interest in bidding for Gawker Media, only two actually filed bids at the auction. Univision and Ziff Davis.
Gawker Media was forced into bankruptcy after losing a $140 million settlement to Hulk Hogan over invasion of privacy for publishing the former pro wrestler’s sex tape. Ziff Davis’ opening bid is $90 million and Univision’s has not yet been reported.
