Marriott seems to capitalizing on the “Made in America” theme that has surfaced over the course of the US presidential election, by announcing that from now on, all hotel towels will be “Made in the USA.”

In the announcement, the hotel chain calls the move a first for the US hospitality industry and pledges that every towel in each guest bathroom in nearly 3,000 hotels across the US will be manufactured domestically.

Marriott claims the program will create 150 new jobs in textile manufacturing communities such as Thomaston, GA and Union, SC, where manufacturing company Standard Textile will produce the terry cloth products from 100 percent cotton fiber also grown in the US.

The move comes as outsourcing and domestic job creation have become major topics during the US election campaign.

The move also takes a subtle jab at Republican candidate and hotelier Donald Trump, who has come under fire for stocking hotel boutiques with merchandise made in China, while suggesting in his speeches that Americans are losing jobs to countries like China and Mexico.
