Just weeks after making headlines for mom jeans with clear knee panels, Topshop has taken transparent pants to even greater lengths.

These $70 Moto Clear Plastic Straight Leg Jeans are cropped, see-through skinnies that leave you completely exposed from the waist to the ankle. The U.K. retailer boasts that these “out-of-the-ordinary clear plastic jeans” are “guaranteed to get people talking,” and they couldn’t be more correct. Twitter exploded once pix of these transparent pants went viral.

Many shoppers were chafing over comfort, since nothing makes you sweat like wearing a plastic tarp. That’s why some exercise enthusiasts work out in trash bags.

But Topshop, which hasn’t responded to requests for comment, appears to recognize just how impractical synthetic slacks can be. The brand recommends the pants as a statement piece or for a costume party in the product description, rather than everyday wear.

The description also says they’re machine washable, although what’s not clear is whether they can go in the dryer.

The see-through skinnies come on the heels of another controversial pair of Topshop pants, the Clear Knee Mom Jeans on sale at Nordstrom for $95. These cropped and tapered high-waist blues feature oversized plastic panels stretching from the knee to the upper thigh that the company says gives the wardrobe staple a “futuristic look.”

Love ‘em or loathe ‘em, plastic bags are on trend at the moment. Jeremy Scott’s Moschino Fall 2017 runway collection at Milan Fashion Week featured dry cleaner bag column gowns and a trashbag cocktail dress complete with a garbage pail lid hat.
