Lena Dunham is cheering herself up following her post-election blues.
The socially aware star dressed up in a silk grey gown for a Los Angeles Review of Books event late last week with the feminist Girls icon opting for the Shakespearean look in showing off her full figure: “Channeling Juliet as I head out for the evening to support @lareviewofbooks, an essential publication,” Dunham wrote on Instagram.
Lena not exactly hiding her figure led fan @stephaniejgarcia to ask: “Are you expecting? You look beautiful.” Some fans defended Dunham on this notoriously sensitive subject only for the lady herself to clarify the situation.
“Thank you! I’m not expecting but I did enjoy a large box of gluten free crackers prior to taking this image,” Dunham replied. “It’s funny — folks have told me I looked pregnant/asked since I was 15 — I choose to embrace it as another curve like ass or boobs or hip.”
Dunham has not been shy about publicly addressing her body confidence issues, frequently appearing in the nude in her HBO show Girls and writing in March she was “done with allowing images that retouch and reconfigure my face and body to be released into the world.”
She’s not done with gluten free crackers, though…
